(Macao, Jan. 17, 2014) – Dubbed “Asia’s No. 1 girl group,” all nine members of the phenomenally popular Korean pop group Girls’ Generation will electrify the Cotai Arena stage at The Venetian® Macao Saturday, Feb. 15, for their first Macao standalone concert performance – GIRLS' GENERATION World Tour - Girls & Peace - in Macau. Tickets go on sale Monday, Jan. 20 at all Cotai Ticketing box offices*.
Made up of Taeyeon, Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun, Girls’ Generation kicked off its latest world tour last June; the group enjoys high reputation in Asia and America, aside its home base, South Korea. Each of its nine members has also developed her own career in film, TV drama and other broadcasting activities, and is able to speak Chinese, English and/or Japanese. Outside of South Korea, the girl group has also topped and appeared in many other major music charts in other Asian countries like Japan and Thailand. Its third Japanese studio album, Love & Peace, climbed to No. 1 on the Oricon Albums Chart in Japan, demonstrating the group’s phenomenal success across Asia.
The music video for the song “I Got A Boy” made Girls’ Generation the first artists to win the Video of the Year Award at the internationally acclaimed YouTube Music Awards, and the song was also named the fifth best song of 2013 by Time magazine in the United States, once again proving that the group has managed to replicate its success, not only throughout Asia, but also in the United States.
The Cotai Arena has seen several K-pop acts take the stage over the last couple of years, including Super Junior, MISS A; ZE:A, INFINITE, U-KISS, SHINee and B.A.P. Fan response has been extremely positive, with The Venetian Macao seeing long lines and sold-out shows. Bringing K-pop stars to Macao is part of the multi-tiered entertainment strategy of Sands China Ltd., which aims to diversify the entertainment available in the city, helping establish Macao as a world centre of tourism and leisure, and as one of the region’s hottest spots for superstar entertainment.
